Sharing an Important Conversation with the World

Some events attract global attention, and this was certainly one of them. When Prince Harry visited Cambridge to discuss the future of conservation and wildlife protection, our role was to make sure the conversation reached far beyond the people in the room.

Working alongside the event organisers, we produced a professional live webcast that allowed audiences around the world to watch the discussion as it happened, extending the reach of an important message to thousands of online viewers.

The Challenge

High profile events bring a different set of challenges. Timings are fixed, security is understandably tight and there’s very little room for error.

Our production needed to work seamlessly with the event schedule while remaining almost invisible. The focus had to stay firmly on the speakers and the discussion, allowing viewers online to feel fully involved without ever thinking about the technology behind the broadcast.

The Solution

Preparation started long before the audience arrived. Camera positions, audio, internet connectivity and production workflows were carefully planned to ensure every part of the webcast worked exactly as intended.

Using a multi-camera production, we captured the discussion from a range of perspectives while delivering a reliable live broadcast to viewers around the world. Our role was simple: let the conversation take centre stage while we quietly looked after everything happening behind the scenes.

The Results

The webcast allowed the event to reach a much wider audience than the venue alone could accommodate, giving viewers around the world the opportunity to watch and engage with an important discussion as it unfolded.

Projects like this demonstrate how live streaming can extend the life and impact of high-profile events, making important conversations accessible wherever your audience happens to be.

What the Client Said

“Crossposting allows us to broadcast across multiple pages without the need for multiple encoders. For example we streamed the official opening live to the Buckingham Palace Facebook page and cross posted simultaneously to the Commonwealth, with viewing figures at just over 580,000” Jamie Huckle, WaveFX

From the Crew

Working on events like this is all about preparation. Once the audience arrives and the cameras start rolling, everything needs to feel effortless. It’s incredibly rewarding to know that people on the other side of the world can watch exactly the same conversation, at exactly the same moment, as those sitting in the front row.

High Profile Event Live Streaming Advice

When you’re organising a high profile event, don’t think of live streaming as simply adding cameras. Think about the audience who can’t be there. A professionally produced webcast can dramatically increase your reach, while creating valuable content that continues to be shared long after the event has finished.
