The Challenge
Capturing a live event is about far more than pointing a camera at the stage. The client wanted to create a lasting record of the event while producing engaging content that could be shared long after the audience had gone home.
The challenge was to capture every keynote, presentation and audience reaction without disrupting the event itself. With multiple speakers, changing lighting conditions and a busy schedule, every shot had to be carefully planned to ensure the finished videos reflected the energy, professionalism and atmosphere experienced by everyone in the room.
The Solution
Before the event, we worked closely with the organisers to understand the running order, key moments and the content they wanted to create afterwards. Rather than simply recording what happened on stage, we planned a multi-camera production that captured the event from a variety of angles, giving us the flexibility to create everything from full-length presentations to short highlight videos. Throughout the day, our crew worked discreetly around the venue, coordinating cameras, audio and presentations while ensuring every important moment was captured without interrupting the flow of the event.
To deliver the production, we provided:
- Broadcast-quality multi-camera, professional event filming, capturing keynote speakers, panel discussions, audience reactions and presentation content from carefully planned camera positions.
- Professional audio and presentation capture, recording clear speech, presentation slides and on-screen content to ensure every video was easy to follow and enjoyable to watch.
- Fast-turnaround content creation, producing full event recordings, highlight films and social media edits that could be shared quickly, helping the event continue to reach audiences long after it had finished.
The result was a complete video package that gave the client far more than a simple event recording. Instead, they received a collection of high-quality content that could be reused across marketing, internal communications, training and future events.
The Results
By the end of the event, the WaveFX team had captured 8+ hours of footage, filmed 20+ speakers and recorded every keynote, presentation and audience discussion using a multi-camera production setup.
The footage was transformed into a range of valuable assets, including full-length session recordings, highlight films and social media clips, giving the client content that could be shared for months after the event. Instead of the event lasting a single day, it became an ongoing resource that continued to engage audiences, support marketing campaigns and maximise the value of the original production.
The Crew's Perspective
“The challenge is knowing where the next important moment is going to happen. Good event filming isn’t just about operating a camera, it’s about anticipating what’s coming next so you’re always in the right place at the right time.”
Peter Harmer, Videographer, WaveFX
Our advice
Great event videos are built from unscripted moments that give an event its personality.
If you’re investing in event filming, leave a little time in the schedule for your crew to capture the atmosphere as well as the presentations. You’ll end up with content that’s far more engaging and much more useful afterwards.

Planning Something Similar?
Every event has its own story, and capturing it is about much more than filming what’s happening on stage.
Whether you’re planning a conference, awards evening, product launch or company meeting, we’d love to hear what you’ve got in mind. Even if you’re not quite sure what content you’ll need afterwards, we’re always happy to share ideas and help you make the most of the opportunity while everyone’s in the room.
