University promotional video production that puts employers in the picture

Growing a great team takes time. For this film, WaveFX helped Anglia Ruskin University (ARU) share how employers are developing their people through degree apprenticeships.

We brought together employer interviews and workplace footage to create a university promotional video with a practical, personal message. The people already making apprenticeships work explain what they’ve gained — from new skills and fresh ideas to stronger teams.

The brief

The film needed to help employers picture what degree apprenticeships could bring to their own organisation.

That meant exploring the questions businesses care about: how learning translates into everyday work, how employees develop and what support they can expect from their university partner.

The stories cover:

  • Growing talent within the business
  • Putting new skills into practice
  • Preparing people for specialist and senior roles
  • Supporting staff development and retention
  • Working with ARU throughout the apprenticeship journey

The people and places

The audience includes business owners, HR teams and managers considering apprenticeships for new recruits or existing employees.

The film brings together experiences from different working environments, including engineering, construction and healthcare. Office conversations and footage of people at work give those stories context, helping viewers connect the learning with what happens on the job.

Bringing the stories together

Employer interviews form the heart of the film. Each contributor brings a different perspective, giving the audience several ways to relate to the experience.

We combined those conversations with supporting workplace footage and shaped the edit around shared themes: developing skills, building confidence and helping teams grow.

Names, job titles and subtitles make the stories easy to follow, while the music carries the film between contributors.

One line captures the idea particularly well:

“Let’s grow our own talent.” Mark Hayward, Chartered Structural Engineer and Director, Superstructures, speaking in the film

Made for ARU’s website

The finished video is featured on ARU’s degree apprenticeships for employers page, alongside information about programmes, support and working with the university.

It gives visitors a chance to hear from other employers as they explore their options. Those personal accounts add a useful perspective to the practical information on the page.

University promotional video production outcome

The result is a two-minute employer case study film that makes the benefits of apprenticeships easy to relate to.

Contributors describe employees bringing new skills into their teams, progressing in their careers and becoming qualified professionals. Together, their experiences give ARU a clear, approachable introduction to its employer partnerships.
