New Voigtländer Nokton 25mm lens available for hire
03 Jan 2012 by Jamie Huckle

It’s time to blur everything.... The new Voigtländer Nokton 25mm lens is amazing and available to hire with our Panasonic AF101 – below is a frame grab direct from the camera with no post production at all

For some time now we’ve been a little obsessed with depth of field and blurring backgrounds most of this addiction has been in post production using Red Giant Magic bullet and a great plug-in from NewBlue.

But now with the Voigtlander's Nokton 25mm f/0.95 Micro Four Thirds Lens which has an extraordinarily wide maximum aperture of f/0.95 we really can achieve that filmic look directly in the camera. This new lens really does create some striking imagery and it works well with our Sony EX3 and Panasonic AF101

To be honest it’s hard to get that excited over a lens and we appreciate this hasn’t been a very informative or techy blog – but what we can say is this lens will be superb for interviews and close-up work and we look forward to another year of obsessive blurring  (I know it’s not healthy)

MNDA conference streamed live from Australia
28 Nov 2011 by Jamie Huckle

With our baggage allowance maxed out with camera equipment and laptops we set off from London to Sydney (there wasn’t even room for flip-flops) 36 hours later we arrived and were streaming the Motor Neurone Disease conference live to the world

Our first 3 hour session went really well with over 100 questions being submitted through our interactive website, the chartroom also proved very active but undoubtedly the big winner was the ability to watch again immediately, especially for those people logging in from a different time zone

As ever we wish to thank the internet gods and the angel Rachel from the Hilton who activated our internet connection a cool 20 minutes before we were due to go live!!!

07 Nov 2011 by Jamie Huckle

Around about this time of year we seem to spend most of our nights in various hotels on Park Lane, (sadly not socially). This time round it was the AGROW awards and we provided all the live camera and vision mixing equipment.

This was the first show using our mobile NewTek Tricaster and it performed excellently recording and mixing HD video with no trouble at all.

A very cold and windy day spent filming a Scottish wind farm for Siemens
07 Nov 2011 by Jamie Huckle

Fully kitted out with the latest in safety gear, we spent the day on a Siemens wind farm filming interviews and supporting footage for their “Zero Harm” safety video.

The filming went well but the star of the day was the £50 wind guard we had for our lapel mic, we struggled in the high winds just to keep the camera steady but surprisingly not a whisper of wind on the tape. Admittedly it looks like a giant bee has landed on your presenter but definitely worth it...

23 Sep 2011 by Jamie Huckle

Working with Mobas a great marketing agency based in Cambridge we toured the streets asking customers and members of the public there opinion on CBS’s new brand launch.

The great thing about vox-pops is it totally unbiased and always gives honest useful feedback.

Live Internet Stream of MNDA conference in the UK and Australia
23 Sep 2011 by Jamie Huckle

The Motor Neurone Disease Association is a charity that funds and promotes global research into the disease and provides support for people affected by MND.

This year they would like to ease the burden of people attending their annual conference in Australia by streaming the event live, they also want online viewers to fully participate by asking real-time questions.

We did a test stream at a MNDA conference in the UK and it went so well we’re now of to Australia.

We love the buzz of live streaming and the good news is we’ve just completed a huge update to our streaming site which now has many interactive options we provide free, such as: ask a question, chat room, download documents, who’s online, video library, voting and polling.

MSN wanted a series of energetic, punchy ident videos to play out before a live concert on their website; we created 6 with footage from various artist such as Pussycat dolls, Kylie and Elton John.

Induction DVD filmed and edited for Olde English Inns
23 Sep 2011 by Jamie Huckle

Working with Mobas an innovative design agency based in Cambridge we filmed and edited a 10 minute induction video for new staff of Olde English Inns. The shoot took place in several locations around the country and in total we interviewed approximately 30 staff and mangers.

The biggest challenge in working in a pub environment (especially nearing the end of the day) is to always except a soft drink from the exceptionally hospitable landlords and not the pint of cold amber larger you’d normally ask for.

The Get Real Road show, 240 live shows in over 60 schools across the UK
23 Sep 2011 by Jamie Huckle

This was a lot of fun - A one hour cookery show featuring a good and bad chef and hosted by a crazy presenter, the shows aim was to show kids what was in their food and how to make healthy choices.

This show toured for over 2 years and our involvement was live camera and AV support, the show and supporting videos were vision mixed live to multiple plasma screens built into the kitchen set and then the big challenge was then to edit the videos which appeared within 24 hours on the “Get Real” website

Our part was to provide the 4 live cameras, outside broadcast solution and crew to record the event and send broadcast to the jumbo video wall.

WaveFX return from filming a Microsoft documentary in Malawi
19 Aug 2011 by phil

Malawi is among the world's least developed countries and has huge health issues with Malaria and Aids, we spent a week with Microsoft documenting their great work distributing Malaria nets to rural villages and using their IT skills to network 3 schools and an orphanage.

It was a highly emotive and challenging shoot and an experience we won’t forget.
