Virtual Product Launch Production for Domino
Launching a major new product usually means bringing customers, partners and industry specialists together in one place. When that wasn’t possible, Domino Printing Sciences needed an online launch that could still generate excitement around its new technology.
WaveFX transformed a space at Domino’s Cambridge headquarters into a purpose-built broadcast studio, allowing the company to introduce its N730i digital colour label press to a global audience.
The client brief
Domino wanted to launch its Generation 7 inkjet technology platform through an engaging online event. The production needed to bring together live presenters, remote contributors, product films and branded content while giving viewers a straightforward and secure way to watch.
The webcast was created for more than 1,000 customers, partners and printing specialists joining from the UK, Europe, North America and Asia.
“Thanks for all the great work you have done for us this year – everyone keeps saying what a great virtual event the N730i launch was and that we have really set the bar high for any future events!” Andrea McGinty, Marketing Manager, Digital Printing Solutions
Building the launch studio
We supplied the crew and technical equipment needed to manage the complete virtual product launch production.
Professional cameras, broadcast lighting and presenter microphones were installed at Domino’s Cambridge headquarters. Our production team managed the live filming, presentation content, remote speakers and pre-recorded videos before combining everything into one branded programme.
The finished production was streamed through an embedded private video player, giving invited viewers secure access without directing them away from Domino’s own online environment.
Production challenges and how we addressed them
A product launch depends on timing. Presenters, demonstrations, films and graphics all need to appear at exactly the right moment, particularly when the audience is watching live.
We created a detailed running order and rehearsed each section before transmission. This gave presenters time to become comfortable with the studio while allowing our team to check sound, lighting, video playback and every live cue.
Remote contributors were connected and tested in advance, with our team managing their feeds throughout the webcast. Backup playback and streaming systems were also kept ready so the programme could continue if a connection or device failed.
The result was a joined-up production that felt like a dedicated launch event rather than a standard online meeting.
The measurable outcome
The virtual launch introduced Domino’s N730i press to an international audience through one secure live broadcast. It brought together presenters, supporting films, technical information and remote contributions without requiring guests to travel.
Domino also gained a recorded version of the programme that could be shared after the live event, extending the useful life of the launch content.
Most importantly, the feedback confirmed that the event had set a high standard for Domino’s future online productions.
