Thermoteknix TiCAM: Seeing What Others Can’t

In military and security operations, having the right information at the right time can change everything.

Thermoteknix has spent decades developing advanced thermal imaging systems used by armed forces, police, border security and specialist response teams around the world. Their TiCAM handheld thermal imager is packed with sophisticated technology, but explaining exactly how it works using traditional video was almost impossible.

That’s why they commissioned a 3D visualisation that could take viewers inside the product, revealing technology that would otherwise remain completely hidden.

The Challenge

Thermal imaging isn’t something you can easily demonstrate on camera.

Many of the product’s biggest innovations happen inside the device, beyond the reach of a conventional lens. The challenge was creating a 3D visualisation that was technically accurate enough for engineers while remaining engaging for potential customers, distributors and exhibition visitors.

The animation also needed to work across multiple platforms, from international trade shows to sales presentations and social media.

The Solution

Working directly from the client’s SolidWorks CAD files, we recreated the TiCAM in meticulous detail before building a fully animated environment around it.

The 3D visualisation allowed our virtual cameras to fly through the product, separate individual components and demonstrate features that simply couldn’t be filmed in the real world. Motion graphics and subtle visual effects highlighted key innovations without overwhelming the viewer, creating a film that felt informative rather than overly technical.

The same digital assets were then repurposed into looping exhibition content, promotional videos and shorter marketing edits, giving Thermoteknix maximum value from a single project.

The Results

The completed 3D visualisation became a key part of Thermoteknix’s international marketing toolkit.

Whether displayed on exhibition stands, shared with distributors or presented during customer demonstrations, the animation gave audiences a far clearer understanding of the technology and the engineering behind it. Instead of describing complex features, the sales team could simply show them.

What the Client Said

“WaveFX immediately understood both the technical detail and the commercial objectives behind the project. The finished animation communicates our technology far more effectively than traditional product photography ever could and has become an important part of our international marketing.” Marketing Manager, Thermoteknix Systems Ltd

From the Crew

This was one of those projects where accuracy mattered just as much as creativity. Working from engineering CAD files meant every component had to be modelled correctly before we even thought about the animation. It’s incredibly satisfying when technical information and creative storytelling come together to produce something that’s both beautiful and genuinely useful.

Our Advice

If your product contains innovation that customers can’t physically see, don’t expect them to imagine it. A well-produced 3D visualisation allows you to reveal internal components, explain complex engineering and demonstrate features in a way that’s impossible with traditional filming. It turns technical specifications into something people immediately understand.
