Creating Content Good Enough to Eat
When we were asked to film a range of artisan charcuterie products, the aim wasn’t simply to make people hungry. The brief was to capture the craftsmanship, quality and attention to detail behind every product, creating a film that celebrated the passion that goes into traditional food production.
As part of the Pilsner Urquell “Meet the Maker” series the WaveFX film team documented several award winning craft food producers at London’s Borough Market
Food Product Video Challenge
Food is one of the hardest things to film well. Every ingredient needs to look fresh, colours have to feel natural and every shot should make the viewer want to reach through the screen.
The challenge was creating a film that showcased the products beautifully while also telling the story of the people and processes behind them.
The Solution
We took a simple approach, letting the food do the talking. Through carefully planned lighting, cinematic close-ups and natural movement, we highlighted the textures, colours and craftsmanship that make artisan charcuterie so distinctive.
Rather than rushing from one shot to the next, we allowed each scene to breathe, creating a film that felt relaxed, authentic and full of character.
The Results
The finished film gave the client a versatile marketing asset that could be used across their website, exhibitions and social media. More importantly, it helped communicate the quality of the products in a way that photography alone never could, inviting customers to experience the brand long before they tasted it.
What the Client Said
“The team understood exactly how we wanted our products to be presented. The finished film captured the quality, craftsmanship and personality of our brand beautifully, and we’ve continued to use it across our marketing ever since.” Pilsner Urquel, Marketing Team
From the Crew
Food shoots always test your patience… usually because you’re surrounded by incredible food that you can’t touch until filming has finished. Getting the lighting and camera movement just right makes all the difference, and this was one of those projects where every shot made us hungrier than the last.
Our Food Product Video Advice
Food isn’t just about what it looks like, it’s about the experience. If you’re creating a product film, don’t simply show what’s on the plate. Show the preparation, the craftsmanship and the passion behind it. Those are the details that help people connect with your brand.
