HR video production for Bard Pharmaceuticals
A company’s culture can be difficult to explain through a careers page alone. Candidates want to hear from the people already doing the job and get a genuine sense of the workplace they may be joining.
Bard Pharmaceuticals asked WaveFX to create an employee stories video that would capture the spirit, values and working culture of its Cambridge business.
The client brief
Bard develops controlled-release technology and produces specialised medicines used to help manage pain and other disease areas.
Its products are manufactured, packed and supplied to more than 40 countries, supporting patients and healthcare providers around the world.
The HR team wanted a recruitment film for the company’s external website. It needed to introduce Bard through the voices of its employees while showing the working environment, facilities and sense of community.
The primary audience included graduates, experienced pharmaceutical professionals and prospective employees in Cambridge, across the UK and internationally.
“What they delivered was a professional, high-quality video that we will proudly display.” Andrew Salmon, Bard Pharmaceuticals
Filming the employee stories
We worked with Bard’s HR and communications teams to identify eight employees from different roles and areas of the business.
Each person took part in a relaxed interview covering their work, career development and experience of being part of the company. Questions were shared in advance, but answers were kept conversational so the finished film felt natural.
Interviews were filmed with professional cameras, lighting and discreet microphones. A second camera provided alternative angles and helped the editor create a comfortable pace without relying on frequent visual effects.
Alongside the interviews, we filmed the building, shared spaces and employees working together. These supporting shots helped viewers see the environment being described rather than only hearing about it.
HR video production challenges and how we addressed them
Filming within a pharmaceutical business required careful planning around controlled areas, working teams and confidential information.
A detailed filming schedule was agreed with Bard before the shoot. Approved locations and camera directions were clearly identified, allowing the crew to work efficiently without disrupting normal activity.
Many employees had little or no experience of appearing on camera. Our small crew kept the setup simple and allowed time for informal conversation before each interview began.
The final edit balanced individual stories with the wider company message. Rather than asking every person the same questions, we selected complementary answers that built one joined-up picture of life at Bard.
The measurable outcome
Bard received one complete employee stories film for its external careers website, supported by six shorter videos for recruitment campaigns, LinkedIn and internal communications.
The production included eight employee interviews and footage from five areas of the Cambridge site. Captions were added to make the videos accessible and suitable for viewers watching without sound.
The finished content gave prospective candidates a clear introduction to Bard’s people, workplace and international purpose, while providing the HR team with reusable material for future recruitment.
Andrew Salmon confirmed that the film captured the company’s culture and was something Bard would display with pride.
