Pneupac VR1 Mechanical Ventilation

Explaining Technology That Saves Lives because in emergency medicine, there isn’t time to stop and read a manual.

The Pneupac VR1 has been developed for military medics, ambulance services and emergency response teams who need reliable mechanical ventilation in the most demanding environments. It’s an incredibly capable piece of medical equipment, but many of its most important features are hidden inside the unit itself.

Smiths Medical wanted a medical animation that would clearly demonstrate how the VR1 works, giving customers, trainers and healthcare professionals a far better understanding of the technology before they ever used it in the field

The Challenge

Medical devices demand absolute accuracy.

The animation needed to explain the internal operation of the ventilator without oversimplifying the engineering. Every movement, airflow and component had to reflect the real product while remaining easy to understand for clinicians, procurement teams and training organisations.

Most importantly, the animation needed to build confidence in a product designed for situations where reliability is critical.

The Solution

Working from engineering drawings and product specifications, we developed a detailed medical animation that took viewers inside the VR1, revealing exactly how the ventilator delivers controlled respiratory support.

Using realistic 3D modelling, exploded views and animated airflow sequences, we demonstrated features that simply couldn’t be captured with traditional filming. Careful camera movements and clean motion graphics kept the story moving while allowing viewers to absorb the technical information without feeling overwhelmed.

The result was an animation that became as valuable for training as it was for marketing.

The Results

The finished animation gave Smiths a powerful way to demonstrate the VR1 across exhibitions, customer presentations, distributor meetings and online marketing.

Instead of relying on complex technical documentation, the sales and training teams could communicate the product’s benefits through a clear visual story, helping audiences understand both the engineering and the practical advantages of the ventilator within just a few minutes.

What the Client Said

“WaveFX quickly understood both the engineering behind the VR1 and the importance of communicating it accurately. The animation has become an invaluable resource for demonstrating the product to customers, distributors and training organisations around the world.” Product Marketing Manager, Smiths Medical

From the Crew

Medical projects are always rewarding because accuracy really matters. We spent as much time understanding how the ventilator worked as we did animating it. When a product has the potential to save lives, every movement, every sequence and every detail has to be right.

Our Advice

If your product contains technology that customers can’t easily see or understand, don’t ask them to imagine it. A well-produced medical animation can explain internal mechanisms, demonstrate clinical benefits and give customers confidence long before they hold the product in their hands.
